A chance meeting at a party, followed by many practices, ending with the long-standing dream to be rock stars and write and record an entire album is largely the reason for Primary's creation. An apartment turned into a makeshift recording studio replete with multiple inexpensive mikes and a pop filter made out of pantyhose helped, too.
Both members of Pure Yellow Colour have strong musical identities. So strong are they that you might be hard-pressed to think they go together. On one side is a guy who likes to play the guitar a lot, coming up with catchy riffs and progressions, but devoid of words due to a musical voice being primarily instrumental. On the other side is a girl who tends to use music to mainly augment her impassioned singing, letting her words and voice do the main storytelling. Cross these two personalities and fountains of creativity and you get a aural sound that's both very familiar and uniquely refreshing.
Due to the largess donated to all creative types by technology, two people can sound like twenty. We use this gift to orchestrate percussion and strings alongside overdubs of guitar and voice, transforming our usual spare, but hearty, coffee-shop aesthetic into enjoyable and fulfilling indie rock nuggets.
