Album Notes
A Few More Seconds
the new recording by Quick, Kreuz, Bartolomeo

1. What Box? – Q: “What style of music do you play?” A: “Umm, What Box?”
Genre and Style are Boxes that you can choose to put your music into.
I choose to practice “What Box?”
The phrase that represents a state of mind that leaves the music out of the Genre and Style Boxes.
A real marketing challenge.
2. Devil’s Night – this tune is named for the night before Halloween in Detroit. In the 80’s, Devil’s Night was a special occasion for arsonists torching abandoned houses.
3. Chili Rayburn – this name is a combination of my first pet’s name and the street I grew up on.
4. A Few More Seconds – wait before you go, wait before you raise your hand to strike…Let us have just a few more seconds of time spent together in peace
5. Attack Even and Harsh – Jump on it
6.West of Texas – wrote this tune while living on County Rd 6C in Henry County, about 3 halfmiles west of a little place on the river called Texas
7. Claude & Clifford – dedicated to piano player Claude Black and bassist Clifford Murphy.
Based on the chord changes to “Out of Nowhere”, a tune that I would often call when Claude and Clifford asked me to sit in at Murphy’s Place on a quiet Tuesday or Wednesday night.
8. Super Vamp 24 {6 + 7 + 6 + 5 = 24} – There was a 4am a few years ago when I sat down to write and this Line is all I put down. It was just a Bass Line written on the Staff until it revealed its potential to me as a Riff to Play Off/ On.

Jason Quick – Guitar
Zac Kreuz – Drums
Josh Bartolomeo – Upright Bass recorded at Big Sky Ann Arbor by Geoff Michael
Painting (title) – Yusef Lateef Detail photos by JQ
Art Direction by Erin Kanary
