ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hi, my name is Rachel Croft and I'm a full time musician and songwriter of Alternative Folk, based in York.

This is my very first single, which I can't hide behind the excuses such as "it was rushed" and "this is just a live version" called Only Dreams. Weirdly I wrote it one weekday afternoon when I was in a self- forgiving mood (normally 4am is my writing time). We were going for London Grammary, cinematic sounds, hopefully it comes through! The track is co-produced by myself and Dan Webster, and I got to work with some of the best musicians York has to make it, who I've credited on my music video, filmed by Richard Tilney-Bassett of http://theglasspassport.com - check it out! https://youtu.be/bQm31zbIJ_A

This will be the 4th year of my music career- this past year (my first festival circuit) I've played on the main stages at Beverley Folk Festival, Warwick Folk Week and Bromyard Folk Festivals, as well as Platform Festival, alongside Ward Thomas and Newton Faulkner, and was selected for one of the 6 acts chosen for Yorks Little live Music Festival for women 2017.

Finally, here are some nice things people have said about me:

"Solo singer-songwriter Rachel Croft opens the first Main Stage evening concert of this year's (Warwick Folk) festival, stunning audiences with her powerful voice. While her cover might err on the side of the safe and familier, it was beautifully delivered. An accomplished guitarist as well as a superb singer, Croft's performance is controlled and precise, both instrumentally and vocally. There's also an impressive polish to her original songs.
There's a depth and richness to her singing that comes as much from the classic soul singers listed as inspirations on the duo's Facebook page as it does from later folk/rock stars she mentions like Joni Mitchell." Whatsonlive.co.uk

Beverley folk festival - "However, the singer that was something of a revelation to me was York based Rachel Croft. Rarely have I heard such an effortlessly powerful vocal from any girl singer. The songs she shared were well put together but for me it was the quality of the vocal that was arresting. More to be heard from this young lady in future I’m certain." - Jonti Willis, Sine fm.
