ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Praise for the New Dawn is a sampling of the sacred music composed by Rachel Burckardt.

The album presents a sampling of Rachel's creative settings for the psalms, as well as liturgical acclamations and songs. Four selections, from the Mass of St. Anne, are recorded live at church, featuring the 35-voice parish choir.

"Truly Original. Rachel Burckardt has a unique compositional style, personal and always pushing the boundaries of a complex harmonic language. These contemplative pieces would work great within a church service." Joe Matzzie, composer, guitarist.

This music, and other compositions by Rachel, can be heard at St. Cecilia Parish, Boston, where Rachel serves as a music minister. Named after the patroness of music, St. Cecilia Parish is appropriately located among Boston's most prominent music schools: Berklee College of Music, New England Conservancy, and The Boston Conservancy. Many of the singers and instrumentalists are students or graduates of these institutions.

Also featured is Rachel's improvisational skills, which can be heard weekly at St. Cecilia's.

Truly Original
Rachel Burckardt has a unique compositional style, personal and always pushing the boundaries of a complex harmonic language. These contemplative pieces would work great within a church service. I was most moved by Psalm 126. The featured soloists are great throughout, and, I wish there was more liner notes information on the CD Baby page, but it sounds like the 5 part mass in the middle of the album was actually recorded at St Cecilia Church? Way to go!
