Tunnel Ragas

by Chris Rael & Deep Singh

Beautiful, rocking sitar-tabla instrumental music by New York City subway musicians - not Indian classical or western, completely unique. "At once pure, devotional, improvisational and profanely urban, a fascinating listen." - All Music Guide

Live In The New York Subways.
Great sounding instrumental by two live street performers:

The music just flows harmoniously from these guy's. I loved the spontaneity of the back drops of street, and subway sounds interfused with the music. Proof of the live street performances, and oh so cool! I found the music quite meditative, and relaxing to listen to. Comes highly recommened.

Take the train from mystical journey uptown to awsome
As a lover of sitar and tabla music I can say that this album is full of tradition but is able to embrace the individual spirt of an everyday modern exsistance without sacrificing quality or complexity. It is so refreshing to find ragas comming from subway tunnels with no excuses. It gave the album a deeper meaning for me, somehow more tangible, in that I dont feel like these musicians come from some far away unobtainable holy place, but I might run into them in the subway next time I am in New York. This album rocks and is a reminder that music and creativity are everywhere, ready to be shared. Just do it!
