Album Notes
Naked, free, unguarded, original and classic jazz avante edged exposed burning tunes.

Diana Smith is a vocalist of extraordinary power and expression with more colors on her vocal pallette than is usually found in any one singer.

Raj Rathor is a fingerstyle jazz guitarist of tremendous depth and alumn of the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Rathor found Smith in Santa Barbara in 1992. The rest is history recorded on this CD project, containing several original tunes by the artists as well as their unique renditions of some classic favorites.

\"Berthold Brecht-ish, Mack The Knife-ish, and Freudian. No pomposity.
A cathartic honesty, refreshing duality and pure originality. I was most impressed.\"
Dick Crockett, \"Still Another Jazz Show\" The Voice 88.7fm Sacramento, Ca.

\"I was the first California Jazz host to play Raj and Diana\'s \'Jazz Cat\' cd. One guitar...one voice...fresh, reviving and unique. I play this cd often. \"Drew in the Studio\" KCLU Thousand Oaks, Ca.

\"These two sound like a hipper, cooler ... which means they sound jazzier to these ears. They have a delightful repertoire-- I cant think of the last time I heard \'When Yuba Plays the Rhumba on his Tuba.\' The guitar accompaniment and soloing is marvelously conceived, not to take anything away from Diana\'s singing.\" Bob Snyder, Jazz
Programmer, WRST-FM Oshkosh, Wi.

\"We love the cd \'Jazz Cat\' here at KJAZ AM Los Angeles. They are on the right track and we look forward to their next.\" Nick Tyler, Jazz host, KJAZ L.A. Ca.

\"Not only do I have it (\'Jazz Cat\'), But I think it\'s great and I\'ve already begun to give it airplay.\" Mama Jazz, WMUB, Cincinnatti

You've got to get this one!
You've got to get this one! Rare is the opportunity to hear such traditional jazz woven into such innovative and triumphant tunes. Soft, by nature, the fabric of this dynamic duo spins from silk; then comes on strong, building hard from the first guitar note to the final vocal crescendo. It's a must for the jazz library.

Review of Jazz Cat
Raj and Diana have put together a wonderful album of the classic jazz duo combination of vocals and guitar. Both artists are incredibly gifted at their craft. A student of Lenny Breau, Raj's guitar playing is rhythmically strong and colorful. His ideas flow so smoothly, taking you on a harmonic journey that you'll definitely enjoy. Diana's vocals posses a depth and richness that one could listen to for hours. Together they posses the unique ability to blend their two instruments together into one unified and beautiful sound.

Great album!
Undoubtedly, my favorite album of the year! Raj's mastery of the instrument together with Diana's incredible vocal performance makes this a must-have.

I can't believe these two arn't famous. A must for anyone who calls a jazz lo
This is the most amazing Jazz album I've ever heard. Not only is Raj Rathor's skill of playing the guitar so incredible that one would think he has a full band playing with him, but Diana Smith's voice is so deep and breathtaking you wouldn't believe a voice could be so beautiful. I can't believe this duo isn't famous already, but I'm sure their time will come. They're destined to be a legend.
