Album Notes
Bio of Raleigh Thompson

I grew up in Darien, Connecticut where my stepfather introduced me to music at the age of four by playing me, "The Firebird Suite." I attended Finch College and Marymount College in New York, and then studied piano with Jerry Benton and voice with Mike Mitchell.

After that I went to The New York School for Commercial Music which really helped me to focus on my love of songwriting and to develop my skills in this area. Right now I study piano with Chris Cherney and songwriting with Jeff Ciampa, two teachers from the school. Jeff also produced my demo tapes.

I was most influenced by Joni Mitchell in writing because I felt she has a unique sound and is able to translate her emotions into terrific words and music. I have also been a big fan of groups like Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and The Who. They have a certain complexity and yet do not sacrifice the melody to this sophistication. I hope the wonderful things these people have done musically will always be a source of inspiration for me in the future.
