Album Notes
Marketing and genre~ people often ask: "So what kind of music do you play??" In the past my answer had been, "Jazzy, bluesy, Latiny... um..." and my guys in the band would echo "Yeah, exactly... Jazzy, bluesy, Latiny..." We have had a lot of laughs about that. But what the heck? I am working with such vastly experienced musicians who are skilled across a wide variety of genre, and frankly, I have limited knowledge of the specific boundary lines between the genre anyway. I just love making good music. I love working out of the box, and I love working with guys who keep things fresh and often suprising. There will never be a boring moment for players or audience. Hello, Limited Edition! Whether creating our original work, or playing well loved standards, there will always be some twist :).

I have ultimately found that the only logical way to answer the above question was to make up my own genre: "Lyrical Jazz." I keep using that term, so how to define it? It is a blend of jazz, blues, Latin and swing, along with some elements of pop; rhythmic, melodic and memorable, reminiscent of old standards with a contemporary twist. Not esoteric, but a little experimental, truly fun and entertaining. Nostalgic and fresh at the same time. And very real. That's it! In a very large nutshell... Lyrical Jazz.

"Falling" is my first venture into a full length CD of all-original music in this sef-created genre. There is no doubt a lot of variety on this project. Songs were written across the world- from Telluride, CO to Sister Bay and Green Bay, WI to Salvador! And a variety of emotions: love, frustration, lust nad loss. I hope you love the songs as much as we do!
