ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Randy Bruce is an ageless folk-rocker who began playing professionally in 1968. A founding member of legendary Wisconsin country-rock groups, Mesa and Daddy Whiskers, and then performing as a solo artist. This album features great Wisconsin musicians, pat mAcdonald (Timbuk 3) on harmonica, Tom Dehlinger (Rowdy Prairie Dogs) steel guitar and dobro, and Hans Christian (Billy Idol) on bass guitar and drum programming. The album features an eclectic mix of genres and moods but the music is, by and large, folk-centric, particularly the title track, "An American Anthem". "The Ballad of Johnny Mojo" defines the genre "Americana". "Down and Dirty" pays homage to Mississippi Delta blues, and "She Wants To Know" returns to the simplicity of old country music instrumentation, acoustic guitar, pedal steel, bass, and drums. Randy plays a wide array of instruments on this album: acoustic guitar, 12 string electric, organ, steel drum, cigar box slide guitar, and banjo. Most of the songs were written in early 2008.
