Album Notes
Randy & Dave are flying high with their second CD, Life on a Trampoline. Once again, these two hit songwriters collide, creating a new flock of clever, cheeky songs that are laugh-out-loud funny. Randy’s a little bit country, Dave’s a little bit rock ‘n roll, and together they mix in a little jazz and blues for a style all their own. The new release springs up on July 28, 2017 on Song Wizard Records.

Randy & Dave will tackle any subject that makes them laugh and set it to music. Nothing is off limits (canning fish? it’s in there). Each song is full of crafty lyrics with layers that unfold and reveal something new with every listening. They swing between sophisticated matters like the Dinosaur Museum and Socrates to guilty pleasures like Aunt Zelda’s velvet Elvis.

The one thing you can expect from a Randy & Dave CD is the unexpected. The title track sends a short kid flying as he sees the world from a new perspective. “Last Time I Was Here” gleefully wreaks havoc on the unsuspecting. Human quirks are handled with playful honesty (would you please stop doing “That Thing” you do). The monster in the closet is no longer a fearsome beast – just the comfortably scary presence “Squadoosh.” When they have nothing to sing about, they sing about that too in “Not About.” “Betty Mumbles” so it is unclear whether she is saying “you’re sweet” or “eat a bug” – set to a funky blues beat. Sharing and helping others are turned upside down on “We Don’t Share” and “Happy to Help.”

Randy & Dave’s first collaboration, Calling All the Elephants, was honored with six national awards, including Parents’ Choice Gold and NAPPA Gold, and received rave reviews.

Randy is Grammy®-winning songwriter Randy Sharp. Randy has had seven #1 country singles and has written songs for country luminaries including Reba McEntire and Marty Robbins, Dixie Chicks, Emmylou Harris, Clay Walker and Dolly Parton, as well as other music stars such as Linda Ronstadt, Edgar Winter, Blood Sweat and Tears, Art Garfunkel, Patti Page and Big Bird, and Glen Campbell. Randy has such a rich history in music that it would take many more press releases to cover it all.
Dave is Dave Kinnoin, whose previous eight children’s recordings have racked up an impressive list of awards. But Dave is not the only one who records his music. Chances are if you have enjoyed songs by Mickey Mouse, Kermit the Frog, Winnie the Pooh, Big Bird, Bear in the Big Blue House, Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Sebastian the Crab and Larry the Cucumber, you know Dave Kinnoin, songwriter for some of the most beloved non-humans in television and movies.
