ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The song The Dad I Had was selected out of 140,000 songs to win the honor of Best Traditional Folk Song in the 2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards. It's a whimsical look at dads in general, with a particularly sentimental viewpoint. From the opening line "The dad I had met a girl named Mom." you know this is going to be a great song. The artist/composer Joe Rathburn really hit the nail on the head with this one. Though the song is written from the viewpoint of a man reminiscing about his late father, the song hits home with those whose fathers are still very much alive, and even those who plan on becoming fathers, or even those women who are hoping to change their names to Mom at sometime in the future.

This exclusive version is from a concert Joe performed in 2008 with his good friend David Beldock, also on guitar. The two make an impressive guitar duo.

This song should be a part of every Father's Day celebration.
