ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Rawson is a singer-songwriter with Rock, Blues, R&B, Funk, Jazz, Pop and Hip Hop influences. Hints of Lenny Kravitz, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and Bruno Mars can be heard in the musical fabric of Rawson. A flamboyant persona and high energy performance style with dance moves reminiscent of James Brown give Rawson a very powerful and exciting stage presence. With the brand new 2019 sophomore release titled Loveville (first self titled release Rawson available now at cdbaby and itunes) Rawson brings an organic and eclectic sound while remaining relevant and current using live instruments and without the use of todays popular widely used computerized electronics and auto tune devices which make this artist a standout in todays music landscape. These factors give a pulse and human quality to the songs that create an authentic and personal connection to the listener. In the title track Loveville the lyric "come with me take my hand to a place that we call Loveville, they never cry they never die." suggests the album as an imaginary place of musical escape. A make believe world far away from the troubled world we live in today. Though a solo artist Rawson uses a regular band with an interchangeable lineup of amazing musicians that bring the sound of Rawson from the studio to the stage. Rawson defines himself as a songwriter with a very specific vocal sound for the very specific songs he writes which changes from track to track. "I create simple stories sometimes just emotional ideas with a melody that only I can tell as the creator with my own special voice." In a Q and A after a live performance at Ashford & Simpsons Sugar Bar in NYC an audience member described Rawson- "Rawson was like a cross between Mick Jagger, Prince and MJ. Not that he sounded like or tried to emulate them but more so he had the same energy and certain kind of magical spirit in his own original way. Watching Rawson on stage was an amazing experience to see, hear and feel live. There was a special quality with a level of confidence in his music and bravado on stage that you don't see in the music scene anymore these days." While promoting this new cd Rawson is already in the studio between gigs writing and recording new material for the next release. Stay tuned.
