ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Ray Villegas was born to humble Puerto Rican parents that migrated from Ponce, PR to reside in the Barrio, also known as Spanish Harlem. Music quickly became Ray’s passion since he was a child. Ray grew up listening to the music of artists such as Cano Estremera and Ismael Miranda which literally inspired him to eventually go into the music industry. He has been in the music industry for over 24 years.

Ray had the distinct honor of participating in two world renowned genres, Merengue and Salsa, as a percussionist. His first performance was in 1985 with the band called “La Soreña”. He also participated with other artists such as Raulin Rosendo, Ray Rivera, Jose Alberto El Canario, and Jimmy Sabater.

In 1993, Ray established his own twelve piece Latin band. They performed at venues such as Gonzalez & Gonzales, Tropicana, Yomas Café and many more. One of Ray’s most satisfying experiences was being asked to perform for the Cancer Society.

Ray Villegas’ productions include “Sentimientos” (produced in 2005) which is catalogued in the Merengue genre, “Solo” (produced in 2012) which is catalogued in the Salsa genre, and finally “Me Voy Ahora” (produced in 2013) also catalogued in the Salsa genre.
