In 1956 he was the first Black/American to be born in Scotland, an Afro-Celt. He was born and raised in Burns Country on the west coast of Scotland; Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, a place frequented often by Robert Burns, the Scottish bard.- Mike currently lives and works in Brooklyn. - His latest work, inspired by the poems of Burns, borrows from the title of the poet's first publication: THE KILMARNOCK EDITION SONGS CHIEFLY IN THE SCOTTISH DIALECT. A unique blend of world/rock/reggae music, sung by Mike in the Scottish dialect of his and Burns's birthplace. Composed, performed and produced entirely at his studio in Brooklyn NY The Kilmarnock edition is Mike's debut as a solo artist. Funky Burns
I really love this album by Mike Ogletree and i think he will reach lots of new fans for Robert burns. He brings a modern and exciting sound to the world famous and well loved lyrics of Burns with lots of catchy rythms, great for dancing too and very romantic in the case of Red Red Rose my favourite. Mike Ogletree has a great understanding and love for Robert Burns and it shows. I really recommend this album.
