"Tim Readman has taken a simple route back to his days in northern English folk clubs. No band, just his voice and guitar and a wee bit of tasteful support from some of British Columbia's finer traditional players. His subject matter runs the gamut from sad truths about love, to the political, to the historical...Into the Red is a collection of original songs that show that master Readman has something going on in the songwriting department. His subject matter runs the gamut from sad truths about love, to the political, to the historical...Into the Red is a great step forward in the promising solo career of Tim Readman."
Penguin Eggs Magazine, Edmonton, AB, Canada

British-Canadian folk songsmith Tim Readman is an ideal choice as a performer in any folk music venue. As a solo act he has developed his own definitive style and sensibility that incorporates a genuine feel for traditional music with a rare ability to play in many contemporary styles. He has an infectious sense of humour and a real ability to engage an audience that makes him a great concert performer, workshop host and participant. His energetic, witty, passionate and personable style makes him a superb main stage MC and compere. As a band leader he can transform his solo repertoire into a driving danceable folk/roots concoction.

"...a guitarist, singer and songwriter with a large repertoire of varied material and a well-honed sense of humour...capable of playing unplugged to a rapt audience in a small folk club or cranking it up and blasting the audience into a dancing frenzy at a folk festival or nightclub."
Celtic Connection

Emerging from the same North-Eastern English folk scene as Jez Lowe, Vin Garbutt, and Bob Fox he earned a reputation as an outstanding songwriter, guitarist, singer and interpreter of traditional and contemporary folk songs. Since moving to Canada he has emerged from a varied musical as a folk singer with strong and binding musical and cultural roots. With his first solo CD Into the Red, he became recognised as one of today's most promising songwriters. He's been composing since he was 15 years old, and the 11 tracks that comprise Into the Red showcase his ability to write and perform traditional-sounding songs as well as those with a more contemporary flavour. He is scheduled to go into the studio in November of 2003 to start work on his next CD.

"Tim Readman has consistently shown himself to be one of the most versatile and innovative musicians on the Canadian and international folk stages, not to mention as a performer with a riotous sense of humour." Rogue Folk Review

Readman has shared the stage with an impressive list of artists, including Dave Carter and Tracy Grammar, Jez Lowe, Spirit of the West, Vance Gilbert, Old Blind Dogs, The Paperboys, Mad Pudding, Lunasa, Bob Fox, Lynn Miles, Garnet Rogers, Christine Collister, David Francey, Fred J. Eaglesmith and Bill Bourne.
