Album Notes
“Although she has achieved great success, Rebecca Frazier continues to be very passionate about her music and her guitar playing. Her journey is one that should serve to inspire any guitar player, singer or songwriter.” –Dan Miller, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine

"Rebecca Frazier is a triple threat. She is a wonderfully engaging singer, a compelling songwriter and an accomplished guitarist to boot. All of these talents come together to dazzling effect..." -Alison Brown

Frazier achieved notoriety in the acoustic world as the first woman ever to appear on the cover of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine. She is also widely known for her work with award-winning Colorado-based band, Hit & Run, which was the first and only band to win the 2003 Telluride, 2002 Rockygrass, and 2005 SPBGMA Band Championships. But it is her vocal prowess and songwriting chops that make her one of the most exciting new artists to emerge on the national bluegrass stage.

In 2013, Frazier affiliated with Compass Records in Nashville for the release of "When We Fall," her first solo release under her married name. "When We Fall," released May 28, 2013, showcases 10 of Frazier's original songs and tunes, along with three flatpicking instrumentals.

"Born in East Virginia" is a re-release of one of Frazier's classic early efforts. Originally released in 2001 under her maiden name, Rebecca Hoggan, the album layers the outstanding musicianship of today's top acoustic players--including Todd Phillips and Darol Anger of Psychograss and Joe Craven of the David Grisman Quintet--with Rebecca's own singing and playing. Rebecca composed or arranged seven of the fourteen tracks and drew upon the talents of classic bluegrass and jazz composers for the rest of the material.

Reviews for "Born in East Virginia:"

"...a charming and virtuosic exploration that will leave all but the most stylistically hidebound in a state of bliss." -- Rick Anderson, Bluegrass Unlimited, August 2002

"Quality picking across the board matched with great solo and ensemble vocals...chance to demonstrate her cross-genre musical muscles..." -- Chris Thiessen, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, July 2002
