Album Notes

«Made In Spite EP» is Rebolt’s first official release. It includes four original hard hitting rock tunes in the rock/metal vein, but was updated with two more songs later on.

Despite their mixed backgrounds, the members of the Norwegian band came together for one single reason: The love for old fashioned heavy metal and hard rock! The songs featured on their debut EP is a humble batch of rock’n’roll which has got both soul and playfulness written all over it. In short, it is an honest attempt to make the audience dig up their air guitars and put their pedals to the metal (although rather not at the same time!).

It was the guitar riffs and solos, the big choruses and the unpretentious joy of bands such as AC/DC, Rose Tattoo and Iron Maiden which lead to the foundation of Rebolt during the winter of 2004. The band had previously recorded two four-track demos under the ad-hoc name of Powerage back in 2004 and 2005. Although they were both crammed with impressive tunes, the sound quality of these early recordings left much to be desired.

This time around there were much more studio time at hand, a fact which without doubt reveals itself on the refined finished product. The guitar sounds better than ever, the drums are solid and powerful, the bass is dense and rocksteady and the shining vocals are as dynamic and energetic as they are on stage. The sum of it all is a cliché, but still spot on: this is hard hitting as hell!

Rebolts energetic and charismatic singer Frode is in the centre of the stage, claiming the attention of the audience right from the first note to the final riff. This is a rock singer who can smile and look people in the eye all at once, and still sing as if his lungs were bleeding. This get-up-and-go attitude both on record and on stage has lead to support jobs for internationally recognized Norwegian bands such as Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band and Span among others.

Rebolt was founded on the basic idea that it was possible to be serious about music without trying to «save» rock by attempting to be knights in shining armour. The musical background of the four members would usually imply that they were poles apart, but their diverse individual credentials from jazz, rock and funk among other genres, have in fact proved to be their greatest strength. Other encouraging acts include Rose Tattoo, The Cult, AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Danzig.

During the years which has gone since Rebolt’s formation, the quartet has managed to earn a small but devoted international fan base as well as a name for themselves on the local live circuit in Norway. The reasons for their achievements are as simple as the ideas that were evident when they first met: To play extremely tight rock’n’roll and engage their audience while bringing their joy of music to a full view.

Bring your air guitar out of the closet and enjoy, dude.

"A tribute to classic rock
In spite of playing late at night and on a venue not too close to the festival area, many had found their way to Smuget to see rockers Rebolt. The band are solid performers of classic rock with the focus on great riffs, big bass, dynamic drumming and most of all singalong choruses where in particular the songs High Road Down and My Generator get stuck in your head. Vocalist Frode Jørum is a born frontman with his energetic stage presence that easily wins over the audience. A sweaty concert concludes with Lemmy’s Heart, a tribute to Motörheads famous frontman. Rebolt are a rock’n'roll band that’s got it all and deserves to be known to a bigger audience.”
Kristoffer Mosfjeld,

“Norwegian band Rebolt are such fans of AC/DC that when they formed in 2004 they orginally called themselves Powerage. Since then they’ve changed their name but kept their commitment to heads-down, no-nonsense rock’n'roll. Their snarly anthem Bad Boy For You says it all, really. Turn it up!
Bonus fun fact: last year, Rebolt’s enduring Lemmy’s Heart appeared on the soundtrack of outstandingly titled Norwegian ski movie Kong Vinter 4: The Lost Hygge. (Sadly, Lemmy does not appear in the film.)”
Classic Rock Magazine, November 2008 (Issue 125)

"...there´s no doubt that Rebolt kicks some serious a**...keep it up guys, and we´ll be really looking forward to an album."
Scream Magazine, June/July 2006 (4/6)

"...Rebolt are doing their thing with a rough and rockin´attitude that sounds tough and cheeky! Rock is the cue, it´s all about a fresh and uptempo thing that´s not very far from what Bruce Dickinson use to do on the classic Samson albums...To sum up, this is all about a very american-sounding stadium rock, with a professional completion. The product is in many ways a little bit different than other norwegian bands, not that many explores this musical landscape.", June 2006 (8/10)

"Rebolt plays riff-heated hard rock and have really got the fuse lit with Made in Spite.", May 2006 (4,5/6)

"...really fun and a wonderful break from pretentious singer/songwriters, inward-looking indie bands and the somewhat used up new-new wave-genre that breeds one second-rate band after the other. I can´t help it, but I really do like these guys. Maybe it´s because their music gives me a constant smile on my face? But do yourself a favor, play it loud!", April 2006 (4/6)

"The hard rock band Powerage has changed name to Rebolt and keeps it up in an even more rockin´and classic direction. This four-track demo delivers classic hard rock of the heavier stuff, influenced by bands like AC/DC and The Cult. And it doesn´t sound that bad. The songs are, within the genre, good, and there´s a real drive over the material. The band offers a really good singer in Frode Jørum and there´s quite a bit of nice riffing and solo´s going on. If you like your eighties hard rock with balls, this is worth checking out. More info on"

True rock! (10/10)
I've been searching around here for some good-old classic rock, and I think I've found it. It ticks every box on my "what makes classic rock, classic rock" checklist:
- simple, no-nonsense lyrics
- great vocals that blend perfectly for the type of music
- good level of distortion, but not so much that it sounds too heavy
- way-to-loud drums and guitar
- awesome rips and shreds in every song
- catchy, stays-in-your-head, can't-get-enough-of-it chord progressions
- just plain fun to listen to
- you can tell the band is having the time of their life
- I can't pick a favorite
- I want more. Now.
I'm very much looking forward to hearing more from this band!

Extremely Perfect! (10/10)
I was looking for classic hard rock and heavy metal groups here, and I found you.
Your sound may not be as original (due to the nature of the genre), but your style is like you are playing in the 70s-80s with Led Zeppelin & Deep Purple!
Keep it up with your good work :)
We are waiting for more ;)
