ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
What is the purpose of existence? What is the sound of one hand clapping? Lyrical challenges for an answer to stretch the imagination. "Magic is an illusion, but inspiration comes from somewhere else, music is REAL magic."

Zack Qureshi otherwise known as ‘RedEyeZack’ is an Alternative singer-songwriter from Brighton, England. He started by writing poetry as a form of exorcism from the east-west clash of identity. From a collection of poems called "Staring into the clouds" he developed a lyrical style which allowed him to create songs that are both deep and philosophically inspired by his travels. His voice radiates a warmth of emotion. In concert, he explains something about the origin and inspiration for the songs and in turn, creates an intimate presence and connection with his audience. His favorite Beatle is George Harrison and his other music influences are mostly guitar-based.

His approach to life is to ''live the modern and study the ancient,'' this idea, he says creates an inner peace that allows an open mind to live in the present and yet retain a balance rooted in ancient wisdom. "Words that express universal truths give us strength and a better understanding of how we can lift ourselves. Eastern words like GURU - a guru is actually a destroyer! A destroyer of darkness (the darkness of ignorance)." These words and ideas are enough to inspire (and explore new ways of thinking, an alternative existence/lifestyle which is very different from our conventional western education) poems which can be adapted to a lyric (e.g. Shaker of the skies).

After moving to Barcelona and pursuing an acting career he landed a main role and performance as Jalil, an Indian flowerseller falling for Gabi, a Catalan writer of erotic novels in the movie TOMANDOTE (English title: Two for tea).

He has returned to his first love... music, to develop an unfinished passion for mixing poetry, philosophy and guitar playing with an indian ambience. Most of his songs are written on acoustic guitar, he has a flare for theatrical performance. While living in Istanbul Zack performed an electric guitar fusion project with Indian Bollywood dancer Ayse Ucar. "Performing as RedEyeZack, I'm currently working on a self-produced debut album called Sketches which started in a Brighton studio ALT." He has performed the Brighton open mic circuit and organised music events. His first taste of official gigs performing original material started in Barcelona summer 2013. Zack is in the studio and preparing his material for performances later this year. http://www.redeyezack.com

His semi-autobiographical song 21st Century Man evokes timeless themes of birth, pain, love, fear and death ("and you will live through the war of the worlds.") he says "I remember painting my mother's toenails while she talked about the end of the world." Then by contrast, a beautiful romantic Sofia's Song delving into the invisible spectrum of emotions and "all the colours under the sun." Moving to realisation "but I could not believe my eyes, what have I seen."

"I really don't know where the music industry is going or if it's just becoming another bigger monopoly. Is there a level playing field? The best I can do is take the songs to a live platform and throw them out into the audience to see what vibes resonate directly with listeners."

Coming from a diverse background of cultures, Zack is always open to collaborate with local musicians and incorporate some cultural/ethnic instruments into his songs. He admits that his guitar playing developed later from his love of sitar and that his themes have a lot to do with love, but that they are not restricted to romantic love, but to love as a universal and cosmic force to be reckoned with. He currently divides his time between the UK scene and Barcelona. Being fiercely independent is second nature and he's definitely a free spirit who embodies his mantra which is PLJ (Peace, Love & Joy).
