Album Notes
Co founded in 2011 by Matt Lube (bass guitar) and Chad Smith (vocals and guitars) , we played our first gig as "The Makers Boys" performing a small set of covers to friends and family in Matt's back yard at his daughter's first communion. A few months later we added Luke Elms (vocals and guitars) and REDWAX was born. Ryan Wright followed on drums and we played our first official gig at the Copper Rocket Pub in Maitland FL in front of a packed house and it was all downhill (uphill?) from there. Over the next couple of years we would be joined by Matthew Johnston on keyboards and our sets, frequently consisting of over 30 covers, would gradually be replaced with our own brand of original music - and with 3 songwriters, we're still not quite sure what that is. The current lineup consists of Matt on bass, Chad and Luke on guitars and vocals and Dan Purcell on drums who replaced Ryan after he moved to South Florida. REDWAX has had some exciting times of late, having been asked to be part of the Cracker / Camper Van Beethoven Camp In in Athens Georgia in January 2014, and in March of the same year completing the production of our first record, The Calm Before, that consists of 9 songs that bounce all over the place, reflecting the various influences of the band members.
