Album Notes
The music from 'Songs For Stillness' was used as a starting point for these remixes and reconstructions of some of the tracks. Included here are two remixes of 'Cana'. 'Eve's Mix' uses two acoustic guitar samples from the Greg Lawless track 'As Curious As Eve' from his amazing album 'Prayers And Lowsongs' (check it out if you can find it!). The second remix of 'Cana' uses outtakes from Scott Lee's funky bass solo on the original track as a foundation for a laidback groove - these bass lines were not included on the original recording but are perfect for this remix. The gentle beat from 'Stillness pt IV' is used as a building block to create a whole new track which starts out almost spooky, but remains always chilled even as it builds to a climax shortly before falling contentedly to a fadeout. The beautifully drifting piano from 'Cushions and Feathered Wings' is allowed to take centre stage on the 'Sparse Mix', with a soft organic beat sitting quietly in the background. The 'dnb mix' of 'Green In The Ash' features live drums played by David Smith of Dollarosa, which have been chopped up and treated to provide a skittering beat over which are laid fountains of electric piano goodness and swirling synth pads. Finally, as a bonus track, 'Green in the Ash pt II', from the original album (which is almost a remix of 'Green in the Ash pt I') is included to complete this EP of electronically enhanced versions of the original tracks, providing a fresh twist on the melodies and sounds from Reflectiv's debut album 'Songs For Stillness'.
