ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
SARATOGA
Saratoga Springs is a small town in upstate New York famous for its mineral baths, its Revolutionary War battleground, the Gary Cooper/Jean Harlowe movie Saratoga Trunk and the laid-back artsy feel it has 11 months of the year. But come the end of July, the famous Saratoga Racetrack begins its season -- a tradition since 1863. Everybody from the $2 bettor from Schenectady to society queen Marylou Whitney roll into town and the party begins. Reggie’s Red Hot Feetwarmers are right there in the middle of it, strolling through the track by day and playing the clubs by night, the unmistakable upbeat sound of New Orleans Jazz filling the air.

SHOUT
The “shout” chorus is the section of a jazz song arrangement after the instruments have completed their solos. In this part, all the horns blow at the same time, weaving and intertwining in the signature “Dixieland” sound.

This, then, is their SARATOGA SHOUT!

The Feetwarmer's first CD release, SARATOGA SHOUT is a romp through some of the best hot jazz tunes of the 20's and 30's. Louis Armstrong's influence is felt in the tunes "Struttin' With Some Barbecue", "Swing That Music" and "Dr Jazz" Traditional New Orleans classics "Royal Garden Blues", "Sugar Blues" and "That's A Plenty" are covered, and there are the great sing-a-longs "Margie", "Always" and "Goody, Goody" as well the instrumentals "Avalon" and "Rosetta"

The Feetwarmer's sound - a throw-back to the old, non-amplified sound of the 20's (that's "unplugged" in today's parlance) - sets them apart from other groups. Their constant energy coupled with an excellent set of classic songs makes Saratoga Shout an album you don't want to miss!

Like Hershey's for chocolate or Mack for trucks, you can count on the Feetwarmers for sweet and saucy tributary sounds. This may be their Saratoga Shout, but it's gonna play just as well in Peoria, Pensacola and Perth.
---Dirty Linen Magazine, Baltimore MD.

Harkening back to the sounds of the 20's and 30's, the Feetwarmers pump out an infectious, all-acoustic, totally unplugged brand of jumping jazz with the only amplification being the megaphone that "Reggie'' uses for singing.
---Times Union, Albany, New York

The Feetwarmers ... pump out the sweet strains of Dixieland classics. It's mighty tough to find unadulterated musical fun these days, but the Feetwarmers have got it down.
---Metroland, Albany, New York
