ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Regina is a former member of the Grammy Award winning Sounds of Blackness recording with them at Jimmmy Jam and Terry Lewis' Flytime Studios in the late 1980's. And although a featured vocalist on the Two Queens One Castle soundtrack, written and co-produced by Grammy nominee jevetta Steele, this is Regina's first solo effort.

Regina is a Southern California transplant. Finding her way to Minneapolis Minnesota 25 years ago by way of Sesame Street Live. Where she rehearsed for six National Tours.
Minneapolis is now what she considers home.

Ms Williams has performed predomminantely in theater; Penumbra Theatre (The only black theater in Minnesota and boasts company members such as Pulitzer Prize Winner, August Wilson), The Guthrie Theatre in Regina Taylor's Crowns, The Ordway Center for Performing Arts in Dinah Was. But she has done commercials (Best Buy,Minnesota Lottery) Industrials (Mixed Blood Theater/Health Partners and other live performances (Guest Vocalist for 2004 Aquatennial at the renouned 1100 seat Ted Mann Concert Hall. She belongs to Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild as well as AFTRA and has for over 20 years.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune crowned her Best Actress of the year (2003) in a Musical. In Minneapolis where it seems every Actor is working, that is consider quite an honor.

Regina is...the songs of Dinah Washington was musically produced by the founder, arranger major piano man, Mr. Sanford Moore of the extraordinary MOORE by FOUR. The cd features vocalists, T. Mychael Rambo (jazz cd SIMPLY) and jazz phenom Dennis Spears. On bass is Gordon Johnson, Sax and flute is Dave Karr who called Ms Williams before the recording date to confirm. He had made a comittment and if he wasn't going to be available for Ms Aretha Franklin he wanted to call and let her know to book with another sax player. He was able to do both gigs. Drummer Steve Jennings also played with Ms Williams for the fabulous runs of Dinah Was at both Penumbra and the Ordway.

yes!
i play this everywhere from jogging, to driving, to parties at my home. this is a breathtaking CD full of vocal and musical fireworks, surprises, and subtleties...i love it. songs like "Showtime" and "What a Difference a Day Made" seem to reveal more of themselves each time i listen: beautifully inexhaustible. there's a marriage of power and playfulness here that i think must bring joy even to (if not especially to) the most devoted dinah washington fan. this cd may send you (like me) out looking for who dinah was only to find yourself back listening to Regina Is once again. i'm so grateful to have stumbled across this remarkable recording. yes!

the only cd you'll ever need
I listened to this cd for a week straight at work and turned a dozen people on to Regina. It is as catchy as it is addictive - it runs from funny to racey to touching and back again, and her range and distinctive voice will stick with you all day. Highly recommended.

SOULFUL TRIBUTE TO DINAH WASHINGTON
I enjoyed this collection of ballads and rocking songs. The vocals are outstanding and the band is tight, always swinging. Dave Karr plays some killer sax.
