Album Notes
There aren't too many notes in the album. All in all, I'd guess that many albums have more. But I try to stick only to the notes that are the most important. I've always been discerning in that way; I've never been comfortable throwing notes around, like they're a dime a dozen. Frugality with notes, and all other things, I suppose, must have been trained into me as a child growing up in Maine. The typical Mainer at that time possessing little material wealth, he had to learn to make due with what scrap was to be had. Notes, especially, were in short supply in the small farming community of Pittston, where my family eked out a living selling apple butter to commuters, as they drove past our front yard on Highway Rout 1. Those were the tough times, back when a fella' would eat his own trousers to fill his belly. Often, I'd run out of notes half way through a number and have to trade a jawbreaker, or favorite baseball card, just to have enough material to finish writing the rest of my song. With so much at stake, I learned to stretch my resources to the limit. Now that times are good, and I've grown soft, I still have a little of that frugal North-Easterner in me. I suppose my early life experience is what shaped my music; and if you listen closely, the influence is evident.

I bought this album after I saw Regis Jr. play at Taix near Downtown Los Angeles. It's changed the way I think about acoustic music. It amazes me that someone can fill in so much of a song simply by the way he plays a single acoustic guitar. Even when I'm not listening to them, these performances stay with me. Rock on, Rege!
