REID JAMIESON "Gorgeous, sun-struck acoustic soul" - Globe & Mail

Reid Jamieson shines his light with an incredible voice, therapeutic lyrics, and magical way with melodies. A regular on CBC/NPR’s Vinyl Cafe, and winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (folk), Reid has recorded with Sarah Harmer, Samantha Parton (Be Good Tanyas), various members of Blue Rodeo and John Sheard (Celine Dion, Matt Anderson). Reid recently took part in a special ensemble recording called 'The Kennedy Suite' with Cowboy Junkies, that was long listed for the Polaris Music Prize.

Reid can often be found performing as an entertaining duo with his saucy wife and long-time songwriting partner Carolyn Victoria Mill. Along with the Lennon win, this creative couple wrote their way into the Vancouver Folk Music Festival by winning 1st prize in the Pickin' a Folk Star Contest, and are finalists in multiple radio and song writing contests internationally. Together they have just released their first record singing on disc together - a country-soul flavoured album titled Juniper's Kitchen. Featuring Anne Lindsay (Blue Rodeo) on fiddle and Paul Rigby (Neko Case) on pedal steel, this radio-ready collection is a little Johnny & June meets Fleetwood Mac - and is all about the songs. A dozen radio-ready ditties - one for each year they have been together.

Known for his compelling covers of everything from Elvis to Mary Margaret O'Hara, there is little that Reid can't sing the heck out of. A male k.d. Lang or Roy Orbison’s long lost son; the comparison’s continue to come in but Reid remains uniquely himself. Don't miss what this tender troubadour does next!

MAMA'S DAY lyrics

One day is not enough time
To celebrate you mama
I may need, plenty more times two
And maybe even that won’t do

Ever since I was
Just a little boy
Mama said to me
Don’t fool around
What goes around
Is nothin that you need

And when your friends
Start chiming in
Don’t you be mean
When in the end
Every dart you send
Will only make you bleed

Listen to what mama said
You tell the truth and make your bed
Be kind, on time and use your head
Just listen to what mama said

When there was only a little left
She’d save it for me
And when I failed a test
She said ya try your best
There’s nothing you can’t be

When she tried to hide
That her eyes were red
And never let me see
She’d say go on ahead
I'll just rest a bit
Don’t you worry about me

Listen to what mama said
You tell the truth and make your bed
Be kind, on time and use your head
Just listen to what mama said

Oh if I had my way
I'd celebrate you every day
You know cuz, every day
Is mama’s day to me

La la la la la la hey hey
Every day is mama's day
La la la la la la hey hey
Every day is mama's day

Oh mama said, My mama said
Don’t you worry about me
Oh mama said, My mama said
Don’t you worry about me
Oh mama said, my mama said

One day is not enough time
To celebrate you mama
