Album Notes
Montreal’s award-winning saxophonist Rémi Bolduc has released his ninth CD “Swingin’ with Oscar”, a celebration of the music of the great Canadian jazz musician Oscar Peterson.

“Oscar Peterson is one of Canada’s best-known jazz musicians; his music and performances have influenced and inspired generations of musicians. It seemed fitting to shine a spotlight on this remarkable artist this year as we celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary,” said Rémi Bolduc.

For the past three decades, Rémi Bolduc has been active in Montreal’s music scene. He has recorded eight albums as a leader, including several with international artists such as bassist Marc Johnson, pianist Kenny Werner and tenor saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi. His albums have received enthusiastic responses on both sides of the Atlantic and his CD “Tribute to Charlie Parker” won the 2011 award for Best Jazz Album from ADISQ (Quebec’s Association for Recording, Concert and Video Industries). Bolduc is a professor at McGill University where he teaches saxophone and improvisation in the jazz department.

“Swingin’ with Oscar” features arrangements by Rémi Bolduc of some of Oscar Peterson’s most beloved works including Noreen’s Nocturne, Cakewalk, Place St-Henri and Laurentide Waltz performed by Rémi Bolduc (alto sax), Chantal De Villiers (tenor sax-track 5), Fraser Hollins (bass), Dave Laing (drums) and Taurey Butler (piano).
