ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After several critically-acclaimed releases showcasing the music of jazz masters, saxophonist Rémi Bolduc presents his 10th album, which features his original music played by saxophone supergroup Sax Zénith.
This new ensemble brings together five of Canada’s preeminent saxophonists, who each contribute their unique voice to the mix. Bolduc is joined on alto by Edmonton’s PJ Perry, as well as tenor saxophonists Phil Dwyer (Vancouver), Kirk MacDonald (Toronto) and Kelly Jefferson (Toronto). These five masters are deftly accompanied by bassist Fraser Hollins and drummer Dave Laing.
Featuring music captured from an exciting two-night live recording at Edmonton’s Yardbird Suite in March 2017, the disc celebrates the saxophone — an emblematic instrument of jazz. With innovative compositions, nuanced arrangements and exciting solos, this record will please music experts and jazz lovers alike.
