Album Notes
Growing up in Detroit Michigan, Rena was recognized for her singing ability at the early age of 12 in a baptist church choir. She performed in her first major talent show at the age of 13 at the famed Fox Theater held by WCHB a local radio station. Soon after she recorded her first record at the age of 15 years called “I Just Can't Forget That Boy”. Two more singles were released after that on Epic Records. She blossomed performing as opening act at local venues in Detroit and surrounding areas for many of the Motown acts like the Temptations, and Four Tops. One of the highlights of that period was to singing back-up for her mentor Aretha Franklin at the famed Carnegie Hall. Rena later recorded the Mega Hit duet “Take Me I'm Yours” with Michael Henderson. After touring with Michael all over the US she landed her first Album record deal with Buddah records distributed by Arista records. The album has recently been reissued for the first time on CD in digital on Funkytown Groove Records .

What more can be said of a singer/songwriter extraordinaire who has gained national and international acclaim? Plenty! Rena has toured with such greats as the Jazz Crusaders, David Ruffin, Bobby Womack, Michael Henderson and Phil Perry sometimes with crowds up to 40,000 people. She has had movie and theatre acting roles; her voice has been heard on movie soundtracks, commercial jingles and several European and US Soul Cd Compilations played throughout the world. Rena and her husband started their own record label called Amor Records to sale, promote and market Rena's music.

Rena is currently in the studio writing and recording for her new forthcoming CD with 3 Major record producers/songwriters. Joël Dean Badie aka 'Soulfinga' produced the first Single “One More Chance” written by Joel and Rena. Lloyd Tolbert is the second producer who produced her last two CD’s. Her latest CD “Take Me Away” CD which contains 4 of some of Rena's favorite cover songs like “Joy and Pain”, “Don't Ask My Neighbors, Can You Stop The Rain and Dr. Feelgood as well as nine original songs.
“Let Me Love You” is the other CD/DVD including two of her videos on DVD. The title track was featured in a blockbuster movie called “Love and Action in Chicago” shown on HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz and ABC viewed all over the world. Starring Regina King, Courtney Vance, Kathleen Turner, and Ed Asner. Rena charted in three categories on the Billboard record Charts with “Remember” a single from her CD/DVD. It peaked at # 9 in the Hot Pop Singles Sales; # 5 in the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Single Sales; and # 80 in the top 100 R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. She remained and held strong on the charts for 18 weeks. Another song from the CD/DVD “A Love Thang” reached # 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Single Sales chart and # 17 on the Hot Pop Single Sales.

The third Songwriter/Producer on Rena's forth coming CD is Herb Middleton a multi-platinum producer, composer and songwriter who has been associated with writing and producing music for such artists as Mary J, Al Green, Usher and Faith Evans to name a few. Rena Scott’s skilled vocals richly seasoned with her signature style of blending Soul, R&B, Pop, Jazz and Gospel, she has all the ingredients to rise to the top !!
