ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Repeats "Think Outside The Idiot" Box Set Album Notes:

All six colored CDs packaged in flying disc. The Repeats "R", "E", "P", "EA", "T" and "S" 5 inches. What's a 5 Inch? We're glad you ask! Basically it's a 7 inch released on CD. For all you kids out there to young to remember. There was a time before iPods and iTunes when you couldn't wait to stick a needle in the groove of that 45 rpm virgin vinyl from "insert your very most favorite band here" just to hear the B side that wasn't being played on the radio. So we thought hey, lets put some fun back into being a fan! We've decided to release six of these so called 5 inches. Each one a different color, autographed and packaged in flying discs. Oh yeah we almost forgot the coolest part, the interior photo of each booklet will combine to create a full-sized poster.

The Repeats Story:

Some of the more refreshing entertainment to come out of Minneapolis since The Mary Tyler
Moore Show. With sharp musical contrast, bright harmonies and a tint of glam. Their songs
are like listening to two minute power pop episodes of Seinfeld without those funky bass
interludes.

Meet The Repeats:

Brian Eggen plays bass and sings backup vocals
Paul Kraft plays drums and sings backup vocals
Al Paul sings and plays guitar

Reviews:

"Three Minutes More" sounded like the Psych Furs playing a Ramones cut!
--Bill Holmes, Internet, March 2004

"The Repeats got new wave in their power pop" "there's definitely an 80's vibe on these sprightly songs"
--SCIsadore, Demorama, June 2004

"reminiscent of the Replacements"
--Rich Horton, Rift Magazine, July/August 2004

Well crafted power pop, competent lyrics and polished production. With songs like "another bruise" if these guys play thier cards right we may be hearing a lot from them later...
--Vapor Hit Records, CD Baby, February 2005

"elements of Weezer, The Jam and Slade"
--Kamey Jade, Gigs Unlimited, November 2005

Lyrics:

THREE MINUTES MORE:

Like that band
That makes you change
The radio station
Every time that they play
Your very most
Least favorite song
With that chorus
All your friends
Still love to sing along to

Like that band
That makes you change
The R A D I O
Every time that they play
Your very most
Least favorite song
With that chorus
All your friends
Still tap their feet along to

But it makes you think of me
For three minutes more then most of your memories
It makes you think of me

But it makes you think of me
For three minutes more then most of your memories
It makes you think of me

BULIMIC:

With both your feet in my mouth
I had to stick my finger
Down my throat to spit out
Before I’d choke on the words you told me you wont hold me

Now it makes me wanna throw up
When I hear you wanna break up
And flush the days down the drain

With both your feet in my mouth
I had to stick my finger
Down my throat to spit out
Before I’d choke on the words you told me you wont hold me

Now it makes me wanna throw up
When I hear you wanna break up
And flush the days down the drain

And kind a like Karen Carpenter
You could of been my Superstar
Now Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down

Now it makes me wanna throw up
When I hear you wanna break up
And flush the days down the drain
But then you never wanted to stay up
To talk about all our hang ups
Now my bulimic heart bleeds blood in vain

BRUISE FROM YOU:

Well I suspect you overslept again under him
Well I left that light on in the bathroom in case you stumbled in

I guess you swept our sweet summer salty sweat under the rug
After I shot off my mouth and then what was left of our drugs

Now that egg fell flat on my face
Because I never thought I’d be replaced
I’m left somewhere right between a Jack on the rocks and a hard place

With a table that’s still set for two
My coffee is cold but what I really could use
Is just another bruise from you

My eyes are bloodshot red black and blue
With a hangover the size of my bed thanks to you
But I guess I just like the abuse

Because there’s only one thing I could use
Now that’s another bruise from you

Now that egg fell flat on my face
Because I never thought I’d be replaced
I’m left somewhere right between a Jack on the rocks and a hard place

With a table that’s still set for two
My coffee is cold but what I really could use
Is just another bruise from you

My eyes are bloodshot red black and blue
With a hangover the size of my bed thanks to you
But I guess I just like the abuse

Because there’s only one thing I could use
Now that’s another bruise from

THE ONLY ONE:

I’d like to go back in time take life and just press rewind then cue it up to

I’d like to go back in time watch my wrist hands unwind back too

Back to you

Back to a time when you and I were fine
Never a worry on our minds
Back to a time when you and I were fine
And I was the only one on your mind

I’d like to go back in time take life and just press rewind then cue it up to

I’d like to go back in time watch my wrist hands unwind back too

Back to you

Back to a time when you and I were fine
Never a worry on our minds
Back to a time when you and I were fine
And I was the only one on your mind

Back to a time when you and I were just fine
And I was the only one on your mind

SHOES IN YOUR CLOSET:

I’ll bet you have more shoes
Then skeletons in your closet

And I’ll bet you better things to do
Then clip coupons for the market

Where your standing in line reading the tabloid headlines
With more than paper or plastic on your mind

And I’ll bet you have more than that one tattoo
Of three barbed wires wrapped like a tourniquet

Where your standing in line reading the tabloid headlines
With more than paper or plastic on your mind

Now your holding up express
With more than eight items or less
In that purple polyester plaid print dress

DRIVE ME TO DRINK:

Well if friends don’t let friends drive drunk
Then why do you drive me to drink

She called at two a.m. and said your still not home
Can smell that whiskey on your breath through the telephone
Now you best leave that bottle alone

But before I call myself a cab
I better sit down hell I can barely stagger
Back from that Wurlitzer

Well if friends don’t let friends drive drunk
Then why do you drive me to drink

But before I step one foot in that cab
I’m gonna sing along to Merle Haggards’
Swinging Doors

CALLER ID:

I’m listening to the first, fourth and fifth rings
Before I hear your voice on that answering machine
Now I can tell by the tone over my cell phone

That you’re still angry at me
I can bet your standing staring straight into that caller ID

Now I’ve apologized at least six or seven times
Into that tapeless machine I’m sure that you’ll rewind
To be flattered by the tone over that God damn Dictaphone

That I’m still sorry

That you’re still angry at me
I can bet your standing staring straight into that caller ID

But you’re still angry at me
I can bet you’re rolling over in your underwear as I speak

But you’re still angry at me
I can bet your standing staring straight into that caller ID

ALL PISSED UP:

I’m all pissed up
With no place to go
Again but down
To the liquor store
Cause I can’t lick her no more
Since she set me on that shelf

I’m under the table again
Cause getting over her heart has been
Staying all pissed up
With no place to go

I’m under the table again
Cause getting over her heart has been
Staying all pissed up
With no place to go

TURN THE RADIO DOWN:

I turn the radio down
Now I can hear myself think
While trying to parallel park
I look behind my trunk before I hoodwink

The smell of your breath off my mind
That after dinner mint scent before a glass of wine

I turn the radio down
Now I can hear myself think
Still trying to parallel park
I guess that I’m to drunk to even drink

The taste of your tongue off my mind
Those fresh wet licked lips pressing mine

I turn the radio

I slap the sight of your smile off my mind
That grin fell between those cracks you called beauty lines

I turn the radio

SCREEN SAVER:

Staring at the stars on your screen saver
That lack luster with even less flavor
Though you could taste them all
And lick them right where they fall

Or make a wish on one
Before it ever burns your tongue

Picking at the scars I left
On the right side of your desk

You could knock right on top
Of simulated wood grain for luck

You could double cross your heart and hope to die in your sleep
Or better yet shove a needle through everybody’s eyes and deep
Whose ever said to you that true love is blind
And then laugh like hell because they cant use their eyes

JUST PRESSED PLAY:

Just pressed play on an old cassette
It was your favorite 80’s band with Aqua Net
They didn’t sound quite like I recall
Back in the day when we used to drive around playing Hanoi Rocks to loud

But that took me back
Back to a time I’ll never forget
The day we took our first real drag off a cigarette

Just slipped on my old bleached blue jeans
They didn’t fit anymore even split at the seems
In time to find a letter from you
In that half torn off back pocket was still a faded I love you too

But that took me back
Back to a time I’ll never regret
The night we took our first real drag off a cigarette

After taking off all our clothes for the first time I’d suppose
In the back of my parents mini van with a smell of sweat and sex from shaking

Back to a time I’ll never forget
The day we took our first real

But that took me back
Back to a time I’ll never regret
The night we took our first real drag off a cigarette

Just pressed play on an old cassette

FRAGRANCE OF ARROGANCE:

Dressed in a polyester leisure suit
With a leather attaché case brushing your hip
I’d like to be this mornings mocha
Through the straw that’s pressed between those lips

But there’s a fragrance of arrogance every time you pass by
And it would never even occur to you to stop and say hi

In a Southwest corner cubicle
With a Post it covered calendar with coffee cup rings
I’d like to slip under your spreadsheet
To calculate that figure add an office fling

But there’s a fragrance of arrogance every time you pass by
And it would never even occur to you to stop and say hi
But there’s a fragrance of arrogance every time you pass me by

You could Email me at l o v e s i c k dot com

have not had the chance to listen to but sounds great!
Brings me back to my best years of my life. From following on of the previous bands in the late 80's loving and having my heart broken.
