from the ashes
I was curious to listen to the album, the title was enticing. Edgy moods, fleeting moments, dark grungy jazz and gentleness. The trumpet sends sweet, hard and soft feelings, a poet in sound. The band blends and stand alone creating a journey with some questions and answers. What remains after listening is a quietness and you feel you have just heard someones story. I appreciated how the musicians have kept it real. The compositions touch on individual moments but retain a strong sense of an overall experience throughout the album. Congrats Reuben Lewis Quintet.
