Album Notes
Who is Rexx Leo? A hip hop artist blessed with an ear for music, unforgettable lyrics, and unique delivery, whose songs will touch you in ways you never thought possible. Heavily influenced by Kanye, Lil Wayne, Nas, Jay-Z, and 112 he brings out the combination of lyricism, realness and smoothness and combines them into audio masterpieces. From creating club bangers to R and B classics his skill set covers many genres of music. Dennis Lee Middleton Jr (born September 5, 1984) better known as Rexx Leo began his music career in late 2006. Being raised by mostly his mother who didn’t approve of hip hop or rap, he instead grew up listening to classical and soulful r and b. This would be instrumental in helping him develop his ear for music on an unparalleled level. After dropping out of school he enlisted in the military in 2006. Not until this time did he begin to start to take an interest into hip hop. The first cd he ever purchased was Kanye West’s Late Registration. Many of the same issues Kanye talked about on this album were many of the same issues he was going through at the time. It was this cd which inspired him to start writing spoken word and poems himself. However none of his poetry was ever released to the general public. As his skills began to improve and grow he set out to learn everything he could about hip hop. Starting from Run DMC all the way to Lil Wayne, for years he studied the styles, flow, and songs of every well known hip hop artist in existence. For hours every day he would practice writing and free styling for hours, using what he learned from studying other artists. By treating vocals like they are an instrument on a classical track he gained the ability to find the best track suitable for himself or any other artist he comes into contact with. After writing and perfecting this skill over many years, he began to write his first mix tape “Long Live The King LLTK”. Singles such as Never give up and Going In shows off his variability in making songs. “Long Live The King” has a tentative drop date of April 2012.
