Album Notes
Midnight -- Empty Highway. Open space, open road, and more stars than you ever thought possible. In the middle of nowhere you pull off at a small tavern proclaiming, "Beer and Eats". As your brain de-fogs you begin to note in a corner of shadows the sound of a guitar, and see, in the half-light, an old man running licks -- blues, classical, jazz, folk -- woven together in a carefully considered stream of consciousness. You wonder: where did he come from and how is he come here? What is the story of The Musician?

As you approach, he looks up, his fingers never ceasing, considers you a moment, then returning to his music he speaks. "Well, youngster........." (listen to the track "Introduction" for the rest ).

If you are a musician – whether you write it, teach it, perform it, or any combination thereof -- the job is to get the music to the people. Be the venue open mic, street music, nursing homes, restaurants, taverns, fairs, concert halls; be the gig weddings, birthdays, memorials, conventions; be the audience 10 people or 10,000 people or just one person --- it is still the job: Getting the music to the people.

For anyone and everyone who has been out there getting the music to the people in, and by, whatever means Life has presented --- the story of “The Musician” - in word, song and music – is, in some part, your story.

Review by David Steinberg of the Albuquerque Journal:

"Richard Hannemann's charmingly quirky CD represents the musician as a man of many instruments and a composer in many engaging styles. He seems most proficient as a finger-picker on a classical guitar but he is also competent accompanying his story-songs as a flat-picker on the 12 string and the banjo-mandolin.

The album shows off Hannemann as a humorist-philosopher in some of his improvisatory "Segue" cuts, mostly short interludes......."

Richard Hannemann has lived The Life, and continues to do so -- writing the music, performing the music, teaching the music, getting the music to the people. Now, through this album, you can enter into the world of The Musician.
