Figtree Renaissance II

by Richard Lawson

An intrigueing and amazing fusion of contemporary film music. Everything from quirky rythmic insect like dances to bombastic quasi classical themes with subtle journeys into ambience. A rich melodic pallette underlies the whole project with inner beauty.

Album Notes
“This album is actually as beautiful as its cover” Rolling Stone 1995
“Exciting assortment of influences and atmospheres” OTS 1994
This is some of the praise that befell Richard Lawsons debut Figtree Renaissance CD of 14 years ago. The CD received much critical acclaim and gained the “band" soundtrack and synchronization work in Belgium, Sweden and Finland and even New Zealand.
Figtree Renaissance is the brainchild of Richard Lawson…multi-instrumentalist/composer and one time drummer for the Lime Spiders, the legendary Australian Garage Punk band from the 80’s and 90’s.
His amazing output has spawned two other musical endeavors; FTR an electronic rock project and Blue Valentine, a roots music collective playing all acoustic instruments.

The new CD Figtree Renaissance II is due for release late 2010 and again is an exciting and absorbing mix of instrumental, classical and ambient influences.
It already has been in demand for performance by two regional chamber quartets and orchestras especially the pieces “Epitaph” and “After the fall”
It is already in line for use with two Australian filmakers for their 2010 projects. Mat de Koning and Byron Quandary ...both Tropfest entrants and both prizewinners in Australia for short films.
