Big Orange Sun

by Richard Orange

"Beatlesque" to his core at times, this "Brit"transplanted singer/songwriter, creates an "epic"album of ecclecticism, which includes the "international hit " he wrote for Cyndi Lauper, "Hole In My Heart"(All THe Way To China)...reminiscent of Zuider Zee."

Big Orange Fun
In a time where music is largely one-dimensional, many of us are left hungry and longing for big, big sound, real talent and FUN. Big Orange Sun offers up this deliciously tasty blend of old and new, guaranteed to quench your cravings for all of the above. Alternately light-hearted and intricate, much of this cd will take you back to a time when the tunes we loved to sing and dance to, offered a distraction from the worries of the world. Aside from the obvious Beatles tributes sprinkled throughout (which are enough to thrill any fan of the Fab Four), the artist brings forth a collection of original tunes that will stick permanently in your head. He memorializes, pops, rocks, and has you singing along, but kick back and crank up the volume to fully appreciate the obvious attention to detail and work that went into the producing of sound so rich and "in your face" interesting. Buy it, and smile! ~Pamela~

Picks up where the Beatles left off
Let's start with the conclusion: if you're a Beatles fan you owe it to yourself to buy this CD. Heck, if you just like great music you owe it to yourself to buy this CD. It's all here: the songs, the hooks, the musicianship, and THAT voice. Richard is phenomenal. With his roots clearly in the Beatles you have to ask, does he sound like John or Paul? Yep, he sure does. Somehow he manages to incarnate both of them. It's incredible. And not only does he sound like them, but he writes like them. But this is not merely a Beatles re-hash. Richard has a powerfully original musical vision that he articulates wonderfully on this CD. All the tracks are great (there's not a dud in there), but to me the stand outs are "All the Way to China" with it's jangling 12 string guitar, "Big Orange Sun" with it's McCartneyesque piano and vocal, "Ballad of Captain Morgan", which you'll swear is an outtake from John Lennon's "Mind Games", "Corduroy", a song that features a closing chorus that you'll NEVER get tired of playing, "Someday Darkness", "Subterranean Sea" both with flesh-tearing vocals, and the utterly eerie "Beatlesque", which has lyrics with philosophical conundrums that even Aristotle couldn't unravel. I'm still trying to figure out why this guy is not a major star and getting play all over the radio. He's that good. Bottom line: You Don't Want To Miss This. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Goo goo a joob.

If you like the Beatles, you'll thoroughly enjoy Richard's latest work!
Easily one of the very best CD's of the last decade: melodious, infectious. It won't come off your CD player for months. If you only buy one disc this year make it "Big Orange Sun"!
