ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Magic Wind" is my most personal CD. After I wrote 'She Liked The Wind', I realized I had written several songs about a failed relationship that included or referenced the wind, and her. I think they make up a collection of songs that fit together and tell a story. This album was recorded over a two year period from 2016-2017. My goal was to record an all original solo CD, but for a long time we weren’t sure if the songs needed more. So we demoed most of them with guitar, bass and drums. But I also wanted to highlight the sound of the guitars, sort of the way Georgia O’Keefe would magnify the view of a flower, so we kept coming back to solo renditions. Williamson Magnetic Recording Company (Willy Mag for short) is uniquely designed to capture a performance; analog recording decks, nothing digital, and reel to reel tape. Only one song had the guitar and vocal recorded separately, every other song was live into one mic, no edits, no fixes. Hopefully it will give the listener a closer connection to the songs and to the performance." RW
