ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Richie Jenkin has been playing and singing since his dad bought him his first guitar
at eleven years old. His grew up listening to and learning from such folks as Hank
Williams, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and John Prine. He has always loved the music
of America: the folk songs, the blues and the old-time country. Besides music, Richie
has been a social worker with Seattle’s homeless, a streetcar conductor and a guitar
teacher since the late 1970s. His life experiences add a unique heartbeat to his music.
Richie’s music tells poignant and personal stories about
friends and lovers, recovery, the death of his mother and
the struggle to live an authentic life. His new CD, “Richie
Jenkin: Four Songs,” is a collection of original songs. It is his strongest work, both in music and lyric.
We hope you like it.
Here’s a quote from a fan:
I’m going to play your CD for as many friends and musicians as I
can here in the city. You capture so many things, blues, country,
Woody, Cash, Jimmie Rogers, grief and love. Hints of Jack Elliott
too. …just great arrangements. Richie, the songs possess that unique
energy that you have.” -- Matt Fried
