ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Once upon a time, a kid from Chicago sat down to listen to his mom play piano... she played classical music, and hard as he tried, he could never read the way she read notes.. like it was words on a page. Then one day, he heard Al Kooper playing a solo on a Bob Dylan record called "If Dogs Run Free." He bought the sheet music, and learned that solo.. and has been playing it ever since. Sometimes in nightclubs in France, sometimes at dive piano bars - he's played from blues clubs to the House of Blues. Many of the songs on this CD he wrote when he was in his 20's and played them for his pals. Some are gone, and some remain... goes the refrain. Now and then a friend would ask; "When are you gonna put out a CD?" Tempis Fugit - Time Flies. Other things got in the mix; a career, fun, laughter, life, a wonderful family... but he never stopped playing that Al Kooper solo - with variations. Please find for your listening pleasure the debut CD of an old time honky tonk blues playing piano man from Chicago. He'd like to thank all the tip jars, all the sidemen, especially Craig Cole, RIP, who appears on the Point of Betrayal track, and plays his version of "Satin Doll." Craig was a monster sax player, and somewhere up in heaven, he's blowing the ears off of Angels. Also like to thank Dave Chertok who generously engineered in his studio, Timo who engineered "With You" and those people along the way who took my challenge; "If you like my playing, then its drinks on the house for me and my friends." Oh, and thanks to Russ Titelman for taking the cover photo of me while sitting in Cafe Luxxe in Santa Monica, "waiting for enlightenment." Thanks for Sherry, Olivia and RJ, Anthy too, your playing has always beenan inspiration. RM
