ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When Rich Sobel moved to town I met my musical soul brother. He was adept at all the styles I liked and he composed great tunes. Rich played with such an infectious dancey style he was soon fiddling in a variety of contra dance bands.
We formed our own band, “Whiplash” with the purpose of performing both our own and other’s recently composed tunes. Playing with Rich has been an education for me in, what makes a good dance tune and how to make exciting sets for the dancers, how to pair the tunes with the dances and how to play the tunes for the dancers.

Rich is a great dance fiddler from his tapping toes to the tip of his bow! This album features French Canadian, New England, Klezmer, Oldtimey, Irish and Cape Breton flavours.

I know you will enjoy this album of traditional and original tunes as performed by Rich and Susan and a few friends.
~Paul Gitlitz~
