Album Notes
Growing up in northeastern Ohio, Rick Bartholomy discovered his love for music at an early age. By age 9 Rick began accordion lessons, later transitioning these skills to the guitar. He later formed a vocal/acoustic guitar group “The Village Green Trio” which entertained audiences throughout Northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania with their rich harmonic and instrumental arrangements of a wide variety of popular folk tunes and growing repertoire of original songs.

Rick later relocated to New York, where he spent the next several years performing regularly at a number of popular venues of that time such as “The Village Gas Light,” “The Bitter End” and “Gerde’s Folk City” in Greenwich Village, as well as other regional venues.

Returning to the Northeastern Ohio area, Rick continued his musical activities over the next several years as co-host of "Celebrate" a weekly television show which aired on WFMJ TV. The shows entertainment and community oriented format featured original music performed by Rick and Kathleen Callan on a weekly basis. “Celebrate” was a recipient of the international Gabriel Award for excellence in broadcasting. In addition, at this time Rick also developed and produced musical sound tracks for a number of documentaries and commercial advertisements for Ohio advertising agencies.

Rick then moved to Chicago, IL where he spent the following 20 years. He worked in television production, did freelance music production, and played an active role in Chicago’s folk music scene. He performed at venues such as The Heartland Café and the No Exit Café in Chicago’s Rogers Park area, the Old Town School of Folk Music, and the iconic folk music club The Earl of Old Town, as well as numerous other neighborhood music spots.

Rick’s new album "About This Time," is a collection of some of his best songs which features a stellar lineup of accomplished musicians from the Northeastern Ohio area, where Rick currently resides. The lively suite of music is performed in an eclectic blend of country-rock-jazz styles, flavorfully arranged with lush ensemble, expressive vocals and rich backing harmonies.
