Album Notes
Rick McGuire releases his second smooth jazz EP “2 Weeks in December” following up his 2013 release “McGuire Required Jazz”. McGuire contributed lead and rhythm guitars, bass, drums and guitar synthesizer. Renowned Minneapolis keyboardist Donnie La Marca provides tasteful piano behind the bluesy jazz guitar riffs.

The EP contains three songs; the first track “Little Love” has a smooth, funky upbeat sound with haunting grooves. McGuire is a seasoned guitarist who has performed with some of the best musicians in Minneapolis and Chicago. The songs on the new EP are filled with strong hooks and grooves that keep the listener engaged.

"Rick McGuire hits a home run with his first contemporary jazz outing… sweet grooves and blues riffs… played by a man at the top of his game…"
- SmoothJazz.com

"It could well be required listening for all those who enjoy contemporary jazz..."

SmoothJazz.com Review
It’s always inspiring when an exciting and inventive new artist, like guitarist Rick McGuire, pops onto the scene. McGuire reveals more of his musical soul on his new 3-song EP (the seductive, groove-infused, 2 WEEKS IN DECEMBER) than many artists do on a full length album. The veteran Minneapolis based composer (originally from Monterey, California), artfully blends his funky, upbeat and haunting electric lead lines with infectious, easy-jangling rhythm guitar. McGuire’s first single “Little Love” both hypnotizes and tugs the heart, taking us on a spirited sensual journey. You’ll want to spend more than just 2 WEEKS IN DECEMBER with this guy! ~Jonathan Widran
