ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
'You Better Dancing' is the sole recording by The Rick Scott Band, featuring the songs of dulcimer ace Rick Scott arranged by guitar virtuoso Harris Van Berkel, with Connie LeBeau on Bass and Andy Graffiti on drums.

Featured in guest appearances are Wayne Kozak and Tom Keenlyside on saxophone, Tom Hazlitt on acoustic bass, Christopher Allen on harmonica, and Donna Griblin on viola, Dianne Berthelsdorf on cello, and Eileen Stevens and Paula Wise on violins (string quartet on 'Sweet Violence'.)

Co-produced by Harris Van Berkel and Valley Hennell King, it won Independent Album, Club Act and Guitarist of the Year in the 1986 Tribute To West Coast Music.

Recorded at Inside Trak in Burnaby with engineer Bill Buckingham assisted by Gary Tole.

After making its debut at the Orpheum Theatre in The Mayor's Campaign For African Famine concert, The Rick Scott Band celebrated the album release with a theatrical concert called Great Scott It's Rick! at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre and was featured in multiple performances at Expo 86.

KD Lang bassist Farley Scott replaced Connie LeBeau for tours of BC, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Alaska and the Yukon before the band broke up in 1987.

In the '80s Rick Scott also pursued an acting career, starring in productions of Reflections on Crooked Walking, The Late Blumer, El Grande de Coca Cola, Barnum and Angry Housewives, and appearing in the Academy Award winning film Rainbow War. In the '90s he went on to become an internationally renowned children's performer, performing in 9 countries and releasing 8 award winning children's albums produced by Valley Hennell.

Three songs from You Better Dancing can be heard in different arrangements on the CD 'Cahoots' with Robbie King and Rare Air, released in November 2013.
