ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
These seven tracks recorded in the mid '80s were unrehearsed and unreleased until now, 30 years later.

Dulcimer ace Rick Scott, keyboard wizard Robbie King and producer Valley Hennell were in musical cahoots for decades. Here's their very first studio session, plus a one-time one-song cahoot with Celtic funk dervishes Rare Air.

Tracks 1-6 were recorded in a single day, live from the floor with Rick Scott on dulcimer and vocals, Connie LeBeau on bass, Jerome Jarvis on drums and Robbie King's inimitable piano holding down the groove and painting lyric into melody. Cahoots honours the tenth anniversary of Robbie's passing, a great loss to the many artists whose music he embellished. Recorded at the original Blue Wave Studios in with engineer Brian Campbell in 1984. The 1/4 inch master tapes were rescued by Si Garber in 2006 by baking them before playing one last time to capture the recording.

Track 7 - Scotland meets Scott-land! Rick Scott fell in love with Rare Air when they came marching across the field at a folk festival and it fell to him to introduce them as MC. He wrote The Longest Day so he'd have an excuse to play with these wild bagpipe virtuosos. That finally happened in this single all-night session at Mushroom Studios, Vancouver, in 1985, with Rick on dulcimer and bocals, Grier Coppins and Patrick O'Gorman on Great Highland Bagpipes, Trevor Ferrier on drums and percussion and Dick Murai on guitar, bass and vocals. Remixed in 2013 by Anthony Maki, Etched In Sound.

All songs by Rick Scott, produced by Valley Hennell, Mastered by Anthony Maki.

In memory of Robbie King, Si Garber and JR Stone, who built all Rick Scott's dulcimers.
