ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Here are highlight from the 11th Edition of the Annual Blues & Boogie Piano Summit, held Saturday November 7th, 2009 @ the historic SOUTHGATE HOUSE in Newport, KY, featuring: LLUIS COLOMA (Barcelona, Spain), displaying new directions in boogie and blues, plus a deadly rendition of the classic "Bumble Boogie"; LISA OTEY (Tucson, AZ) bringing playfulness and humor ("Blues By The Dozen") to the evening's proceedings; the son of pioneer blues pianists such as Sunnyland Slim, Otis Spann and Little Brother Montgomey, BARRELHOUSE CHUCK (Chicago, IL); and personal takes by event producer RICKY NYE on traditional numbers such as "St. Louis Blues" and Professor Longhair's "Tipitina"- stellar rhythm section of GEORGE BEDARD (guitar); BRIAN AYLOR (drums) and STEVE PERAKIS (upright bass) light up the evening...unless you can time travel, this is as close as you can get to being there, and if you attended, the CD provides a fine memory of a diverse and and very special evening- ENJOY!
