Album Notes
Rik Cornelissen (1984) has studied Classical Music, Argentinian Tango and Arranging at Codarts (Bachelor Rotterdam Conservatory, The Netherlands), Jazz & Pop at ArtEZ (Master Arnhem Conservatory, The Netherlands) and Advanced Accordion Playing (Claudio Jacomucci, Scuola Superiore di Fisarmonica, Italy).

In his solo works (arrangements & compositions) for accordion Rik is combining Latin, Jazz and Tango and created a renewing and surprising sound due his intensive search for possibilities by transcribing piano works. In this album you will find arrangements of jazz & latin standards like Armando's Rhumba, Lament, Remembrance, Loro and Falling Grace. Grooving montuno's, Baiao's, Extended harmonics with Bill Evans-like soundscapes, beautiful ballads with powerful sound possibilities, daring arrangements and loads of freedom and improvisation.

Rik is connected to the ArtEZ conservatory Jazz & Pop department as a teacher Accordion Jazz & Pop and gives many workshops and masterclasses about accordion, latin, jazz, tango and improvisation. And a frontmen and sideman he is connected to many latinjazz and jazz ensembles and worked with Bert van den Brink, Juan Pablo Dobal, Ben van den Dungen, Claudio Jacomucci and many others.
