Album Notes
Thorbjørn Risager is one of Denmark's leading vocalists within blues/rock/soul. This is his first CD with his current band, including sax, trumpet and a keyboard player, Emil Balsgaard, who is a great organist and an outstanding boogie-woogie/New Orleans-pianist.
This is a live recording from a club in Copenhagen, but without the noice and too-long solos that could sometimes be the problem with live-CD's. No, this is just a straight-up-and-down recording, with a great sound, balanced and present, and above all, great musicianship to back Thorbjørn's fantastic blues voice. Tracks like Jimmie Johnson's "You Don't Know What Love Is" along with some of the originals display the soulful side of both the band and Thorbjørn's voice. It was with the help of this CD that the band left Denmark and started playing in the rest of the world.
"Live 2004" contains the same excellent mixture of blues and R&B as the latest release, "From The Heart", also available on CD Baby.
