ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The RiverRoad Band is back together and ready to rock after 25 years. This band is hotter than ever and after completeing their debut CD "Dreams". 'The RiverRoad Band' was originaly formed in 1973 under the name River Road. The four original members were Randy Hoggatt: lead/rhythm guitar, lead/backup vocals, song writer, Ron Hoggatt: Drums, Terry Gilpin: bass, backup vocals, song writer, and Mike Hughey: rhythm guitar, lead/backup vocals, song writer, recording and sound engineer. All the members were and still are from Coffeyville, Kansas and were friends before they started the band. In 1975, the band went on the road. They played their four hour set of cover songs from Jackson Browne, Pure Prairie League, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Poco, John Prine, Jerry Jeff Walker, and many other 70's country rock artists. The band toured Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas till 1976 when the band came in from the road for the birth of Mike Hughey's son. They would never go out on the road again. After playing a few local gigs, the band broke up and the members all joined other area bands. Since the original members all lived in Coffeyville, it wasn't hard for them to keep in touch and remain friends. After 23 years, these four guys got back together to record their first album. This album is all original songs written by Mike, Randy, and Terry. Mike and Randy wrote most of the songs either together or alone, some new and some old, but all had input in every phase of this album. About half way through the project, the band found out that the name 'River Road' was being used by a country band with a cd and song on the country charts. The guys decided to find another name. After many hours spent trying to come up with something, they decided to change the name to 'THE RIVERROAD BAND'. The working title of their album was Resurrection, but at the last minute they changed it to 'Dreams'. This is also the title of the first song on the cd. The RiverRoad Band has now changed its name to "Verdigris". After finishing the first CD, Ron and Terry went their own ways and Randy and Mike kept on writing and recording their second CD. The new CD is entitled Changes and is available at CDBaby as well. Remember to look for "Verdigris".
