ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
REGGIE YOUNG started his musical journey in Memphis, Tennessee back in the 50\'s as a member of Eddie Bond and the Stompers, a rock-a-billy band that toured with Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison. In 58 he was with Johnny Horton and the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport Louisiana. In 1959 he helped form the Bill Black Combo. Their instrumental of \"Smokie\" was released on Hi Records and made it to the Top 10 in the pop charts. Billboard magazine listed them as the number one instrumental band from 1960-61-62. They were the opening act for the Beatles 1964 thirty day tour of America at the request of the Beatles. Reggie was staff musician at Hi Studio in Memphis until 1967. Then he helped create the now famous in house rhythm section at American Studio known as the Memphis Boys. From 1967 to 1972 these same guys recorded 122 pop and R&B hits. Just a few of these are Elvis\' \"Suspicious Minds,\" \"In the Ghetto,\" Dusty Springfield\'s \"Son of a Preacher Man,\" Neil Diamond\'s \"Sweet Carolyn,\" The Box Tops\' \"Cry Like a Baby,\" BJ Thomas\'s \"Hooked on a Feeling,\" Danny O\'Keefe\'s \"Good Time Charlie,\" and many more.

Reggie moved to Nashville in 1972 and was first call session guitarist into the 90\'s. He has recorded with virtually everyone in Nashville. You may remember Dobie Gray\'s \"Drift Away,\" Willie Nelson\'s \"Always on my Mind,\" and Waylon Jennings\' \"Luckenbach Texas.\" He has played on hits for Merle Haggard, Reba McEntire , Jimmy Buffet, JJ Cale, Lefty Frizzell, Delbert McClinton, Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., George Strait, Aaron Neville, Joe Cocker, and just too many others to list in this space.

Reggie toured with the Highwaymen, (Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson) for five years (1990-95) while continuing to do session work in Nashville and LA. He was nominated for a Grammy and performed at the Kennedy Center on two occasions. Once for Johnny Cash and once for Willie Nelson. In 2007 Reggie was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville as well as being honored by the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 for being a \"Nashville Cat\".

This legendary lead guitar player has joined with his wife Jenny, to create an acoustic CD of soulful arrangements of meditative music.

JENNY LYNN HOLLOWELL/YOUNG is an eclectic mixture of styles and experiences. She began playing cello at age eight and grew up in Arizona. She has a classical degree in performance cello from Arizona State University in Phoenix, yet she went to the college of hard knocks playing electric cello and fiddle in bands and clubs throughout the southwest. Jenny had her own band, Jenny Lynn and the Men, and played from Las Vegas to Anchorage Alaska for eight years.

In 1999 Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter heard Jenny performing in a club in Scottsdale and invited her to join the Waymore Blues Band. This was to be Waylons last band. He personally hand picked his favorite musicians to tour the final years of his life. You can hear and see Jenny playing on Waylon\'s new CD/DVD, \"Never Say Die,\" recorded at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. She also plays with Jessi Colter and was featured on Jessi\'s last record \"Out of the Ashes\".

Jenny moved to Nashville in 2001 and works as a studio musician.

You might be wondering how a soulful guitar player form Memphis and a classically trained cellist from Phoenix got together to play music. Reggie and Jenny\'s paths crossed when Waylon Jennings formed the Waymore Blues Band in 1999. Jenny and Reggie became friends and later fell in love. They were married in 2004 and moved to Leipers Fork, a small village in middle Tennessee bordering the Natchez Trace Parkway National Park. They put aside their electric instruments to create this acoustic CD of peaceful meditative music. Imagine them sitting on their screened porch, playing cello and guitar, and looking into each others eyes while the birds in the forest sing along.

Be Still Is AWESOME!!!
I have been a fan and admirer of Reggie Young for many decades and his beautiful wife Jenny Lynn Young since I first discovered her in 1999. My wife and I have enjoyed the Be Still CD so much that we decided that we just have to share this with our friends. We have purchased 4 so far and we plan of more purchases soon.

This CD is relaxing, inspiring and uplifting all at once. Put it on, sit back, relax and let the music wash over your soul, lifting the weight of the day off your shoulders.
