ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
~~~Ray & Wanelle ~~~
Ray and Wanelle are each talented in their own rite, but together they bring a harmonious blend of voices that makes one think they have sung together for many years rather than two years. Ray, the seventh child in a family of 12 children, and Wanelle, an only child, began their music career together in a grammar school talent contest at Salem, a little country school near Cochran, GA, when Wanelle accompanied Ray on the piano as he sung Elvis' hit, "When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again". As fate would have it, they drifted apart over the years and the two didn't perform together again until 14 Sep 02 when they unexpectedly met on stage at the Powersville Opry in Powersville, GA, after Doug Welch, the leader of the Klassic Kountry band, which Ray performed in, invited Wanelle up from the audience to sing a few impromptu songs with them. Since that night, Ray and Wanelle have been a team and they are now in demand as a twosome, entertaining audiences throughout Georgia. They continue to perform with the Klassic Kountry band and, also, with their dynamic new group known as Phoenix.
Ray's winning personality and talent draw people to him wherever he goes. He is always ready to sing a request from the audience, and rarely is a song requested that he doesn't know. Ray comes from a family that loves music and he has performed since he was a young child. His Uncle Wilbon Knighton taught him his first chords on the guitar when he was a young boy. Throughout his career, Ray formed several successful bands. Especially noteworthy is his band "The Knight Riders" which performed to large audiences at Francis' Country Club in Macon, GA, for many years. Ray, also, sings with a gospel group, The Lakeview Singers, which has delighted the residents of Cochran's nursing home for over a decade.
Wanelle wrote four of the five solos she sings in this collection, as well as the title song to a previous album, "Do Me A Favor-Don't Love Me". She, also, provided background harmony on several of hers and Ray's songs. Making the album even more special to Wanelle is having her talented cousin, Ed Howell, contribute his beautiful fiddle sounds to several of her songs. Wanelle's sincerity and carefree style win the affection of her audiences as she puts her enthusiasm into every song she sings. During a recent trip to Nashville, TN, Wanelle and Ray were invited to sing on two evenings at a world-famous nightclub, The Nashville Palace, with The Steve Hill Band, and they had the Nashville audience clapping and singing along with the music as they poured out their hearts to them.
Wanelle's song, "You Got A Knack" was cited for the "Spotlight of the Month" by a local radio station, Y-96 for the month of June 04. Ray's song, "I'll Take What's Left of You" won the "Spotlight of the Month"for the previous month. These talented individuals are on their way up in the music world and are in demand for shows every weekend.
Wanelle and Ray are no strangers to the recording studio, each having recorded several times. Ray recorded his first two albums at Sun Studio in Nashville, TN, and Wanelle recorded her initial album at Wildbean Studio in Macon, GA. Since meeting again in 2002, they have recorded two Christmas CDs together at Wildbean Studio and starred in two country music Christmas videos for television. Watch for yet another Christmas album and video in 2004 from this exciting duo.
Their CD, "Together Again" boasts a myrid of talented musicians. A long-time friend of Wanelle's and Ray's, Harvey Wynne, plays fabulous lead guitar on this CD. At all of their shows, the fans delight in watching his fingers fly over the guitar strings as he makes his beautiful music. Wanelle's cousin, Ed Howell, adds his seasoned fiddle to many of the songs. The talented Tony Cooper continually amazes everyone with his beautiful piano arrangements and baritone guitar. Tommy Lawson, a friend and co-worker of Wanelle's and Ray's, does an excellent job on the drums. Frank Crawley, the long-time steel player provides traditional sounds like no other steel player. Bass and acoustic guitar is added by Goose Goodrich and Tony Cooper. These musicians are amazingly diversatile and talented and add wonderfully rich and exciting sounds to the CD.
