ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Rick McGuire releases his debut CD that rings of modern story pop with tasteful jazzy/blues riffs. Influenced by notable musician/songwriters such as John Mayer, Dave Mathews, and Edwin McCain, he offers his own unique sound and authenticity.

Rick is an accomplished guitarist and has played lead/rhythm guitar in Minneapolis bands Orion Eyes and Escape. He also placed in the top 10 in the Twin Cities Best Guitar Player Contest... Recently, the guitarist began to focus on singing and songwriting and has spent the past two years writing the songs for his first solo project.

The CD was recorded at Third Ear Recording in Minneapolis over June and July of this year. It was produced by Producer/Engineer Tom Herbers (Low, Honey Dogs) and includes some extraordinary sounds from his vintage keyboard collection including the Hammond B-3 organ, Sohmer upright piano, Wurlitzer electric piano, Mellotron Mark VI tape replay keyboard and the Chamberlin M1.

The CD also features some of the best musicians Minneapolis has to offer. Jim Anton (formerly of Beat The Clock and Greazy Meal) plays bass guitar and displays his mastery of the instrument on Tracks 1,5, and 10. On drums, Noah Levy (of the Honey Dogs) kicks out solid beats and provides tasteful fills. Keyboardist Donnie LaMarca (of Mick Sterling and the Stud Brothers) offers his unique jazzy style of piano and keyboards to the mix. Donnie is also an accomplished saxophonist and delivers fresh, cleverly written sax solos on "crashing down" and "falling hard".

REVIEWS:

"Rick McGuire's debut CD 'screaming' sneaks up on you the way the good one's do. He's a subtle storyteller with the same intriguing imperfections that make a painting great"
