Album Notes
My music has a taste of The Eagles, Poco And Bruce Springsteen because I've played with and written tunes with them. I'm an acoustic guitar player/singer-songwriter that also plays several Asian instruments. This CD includes a song i performed with a Thai instrument called the Phin. I recorded a couple of classics from the past to honor writers that have influenced me over the years giving them my own spin. You probably won't recognize them until the lyrics come in. I hope you enjoy this CD as much as I enjoyed recording it.

A Real Fine Day
I got this CD a couple of weeks ago; and it's still in the car cd player. There's not a tune I ever skip over. When I hear "A Real Fine Day", it seems to just make it so....a fine day. The composing on the classics is excellent, also. Who doesn't love "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" done well? Oh my, "The Word"? I had never heard before; then I heard a Beatles tribute.......Robbin really hit it right on for that one! We're glad Robbin landed in Virginia! whooohoooo!

Robbin Thompson- A Real Fine Day

A Real Fine Day- Robbin Thompson
Robbin Thompson is Virginias best kept secret. His songwriting is, and always has been, of stellar quality accompanied by equally outstanding vocals and well rendered arrangement and recording. His song Sweet Virginia Breeze (on a previous release) should, by all rights, be the state song of Virgina. This CD more than meets the level of excellence and well crafted artistry that has become his trademark. Thanks Robbin, for giving us another beautifully done body of work. It is, as always, deserving of national recognition . You've done it again. My highest reccomenedations and congratulations on your continually amazing musical career.

A REAL Fine Day!
It was a down day when I put Robbin Thompson's new release "A Real Fine Day" on my CD player for the first time. My toes began to twitch in time with the captivating strumming beat of the first few measures. The two-voice intro had faint echoes of IZ Kamakawiwo'ole's "Over the Rainbow" harmony, and the corners of my mouth began to twitch, broadening into a full smile as Robbbin began to sing about waking up to the morning sunshine and the singing of birds, and that it was going to be a real fine day. I realized that it was going to be a real fine day for me, too! By the time the second track, "The Word" started, my head was nodding to the beat, and my feet were in dance-mode.
I was wrapped up in each successive song. Living only a block from the James River, I especially enjoyed "All Along the River James", and Robbin's fresh take on "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" was another smile-generator. The hard-rock intro to "I'm Gonna Take You Home" grabs you immediately. The exotic string sound of lead-in to "Heaven's Gonna Call You Up" was an intriguing treatment of this Gospel song.
By the time the last notes of the final piece, "That Was Then, This Is Now" faded, I was ready to cycle back to the beginning again, assured that for me, it really was going to be a Real Fine Day!
Buy this CD! You won't be disappointed!

A Real Fine Day
This is classic Robbin Thompson. I got it two weeks ago and can't stop playing it. This CD is a must for any RT fan. As always the songs are witty, soulful, and introspective, and of course ... that voice!

A real fine CD! Another brilliant Robbin Thompson production!
Thanks Robbin!

Every track tells the story of my life. A Real Fine Day gets me up and going to face every new day. Ain't Love Crazy Like That reminds me that love is just around the corner, I just have to wait until it finds me. I'm Gonna Take You Home is a love letter about trust. All Along the River James reminds me of my fairy tale youth in Richmond 40 years ago where I fell in love and my daughter was born. Stand Up is my anthem. That was Then, This is Now is where I've ended after all these years. Thanks, Robbin, for putting your heart out there for us.
