Album Notes
Veteran saxophonist/flutist/composer Robert Kyle & friends celebrate the 50th anniversary of the sensuous Bossa Nova with their latest release "Bossalicious." This collection features instrumental bossa Novas & Brazilian Jazz classics from the pens of masters Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ary Barrosso, Dori Caymmi, Guinga & more. Joining Robert on this "Bossalicious" journey are native Brazilians Roberto Montero on acoustic guitar and vocals, percussionist Cristiano Novelli and American percussionist Ami Moinelli. What makes this CD so unique is the instrumentation, acoustic guitar and TWO percussionists, with one of the percussionists functioning as a bass player by playing some kind of low drum. This gives the music a very unique texture and lots of space for Robert’s beautiful sax or flute to float over. The sparse & lovely wordless vocals are used as an additional instrument, adding another texture to the sonic palette of this delightful recording...

This is Robert's lyrical side showcased in sparse, poignant musical treatments of both his original compositions ("The Long Goodbye" being my favorite from this album) and Brazilian standards including "Favela". Truly captures that elusive quality of "saudade" that lies at the root of this genre. A beautiful record.

Really Nice..
This is perfect date night music in my opinion. Intelligent, soft and sexy. A bottle of wine, a Hottie and Bossalicious.. Nice Work Rob. Thank you.

Robert's sound on both sax and flute is absolutely beautiful, the songs well-chosen, and the arrangements great! Robert Kyle is a master musician with a wonderful feel for Brazilian musical styles - I highly recommend this album!

Bossalicious is a mixture of Spice and Fire. It's almost unfair though to write a review about just one of Robert's pieces because all of it us so timely while mixed with memories of the heart. Keep up the good work, Robert and Blessings to you always. Plus you are a nice guy and your music reflects it.

Irresistably tasty...
Bossalicious – an aptly name collection of classic compositions and new music for this complex and sensitive genre. Bossa nova is seldom played outside of Brazil with as much insight as this trio provides with each breath, pluck, and beat. Robert Kyle delivers a masterful performance reminiscent of Stan Getz’s tone and vision, while also being unique and fresh with ideas. His mellifluous and perpetually balanced saxophone lines draw the listener in close to the essence of many these serene and probing melodies. Special recognition goes to Roberto Montero whose terrific guitar work generates an authentic groove. His ceaseless innovations incorporate many of the complex harmonic concepts that are part of today’s most envied Brazilian guitar elite. Ami Molinelli represents the hidden treasure on this CD whose percussion tracks made me hit the repeat button more than any other CD I’ve heard in some time. No doubt she will be heavily recruited for her artistry. The trio is terrifically complementary in the way they play together. Somehow as they manage to pay homage to their influences while at the same time creating something entirely new and contemporary. If you play Brazilian music you might feel the twinge of envy I felt listening to this recording depicted by the the thought, “I want to do that too.” Indeed, this is an award-worthy, superbly recorded album that you will want to hear repeatedly. Bossalicious proves that bossa nova is alive and thriving more than 50 years after its inception and that a Rio de Janeiro address is not essential producing to the real thing. Don’t miss it! Stunningly tasteful
In my opinion, this is merely the most delightful bossa offering since Getz/Gilberto (the ‘60s). So gracefully arranged and performed...Robert's soothing sax and flute parts interrelating seamlessly with Roberto Monteiro's choice chord assortment have further validated that both are at the top of this rhythmically and melodically exquisite genre. Cristiano Novelli and Amy Molinelli team up to deliver the finely-tuned percussion with sensitivity, distinction, and occasional austerity, far surpassing what I thought possible, particularly with Novelli’s surdo functioning as a bass for a significant segment of the album. Robert Kyle is brilliant as an arranger and performer on tenor and soprano saxes and flute, as anyone who is mentioned in the same sentence as Stan Getz would have to be. This is the best album of the year if you're an American bossa lover.

Nice Mix
Out of the ordinary resulting in a great mix for a fantastic CD.

I like this CD. Very pleasant to hear with authentic brazilian sounds and Robert's saxophone and flute playing is superb! I'm enjoying the variety of songs giving a chance to the listeners to appreciate other brazilian compositions maybe not as well known here in the states.
Being an amateur musician myself with classical and popular music background I recommend this CD for all of you music lovers out there!
